About the Community
Maude, She Oaks and Steiglitz are three distinct towns with histories involving gold mining and mixed farming. European settlement began around 1836. Today the towns have active communities and provide for lifestyle choice as well as farming.

Community PlanningCommunity planning is about enabling communities to identify opportunities and implement projects that address social, environmental, health and wellbeing, infrastructure, cultural and economic goals and issues.
Through the program, Council aims to assist and strengthen the communities in Golden Plains, to help them become more environmentally and socially sustainable, to foster a sense of community spirit and pride and to increase residents involvement in community life. Community Plan 2014Community Plans are reviewed every two years and the process for developing the new Maude, She Oaks, Steiglitz Plan commenced in February 2014. The coordinators prepared a mail out and an on line survey to local residents inviting suggestions for the 2014 Plan. A community meeting in April was well attended and work shopped the ideas and responses generated by the community. The coordinators produced a draft of the 2014 Community Plan for exhibition and feedback. Click on the priorities button below, to view a list of current actions.
